The application starts and you can choose to browse the existing files. 4. Restore a full backup or individual files 1. Start by selecting the profile you want to restore from. Then press "Restore" in the menu. 2. Now all archives belonging to the profile will be listed. Select the backup you want to restore from and then continue the wizard. 3. Pro Backup features

Simple, stripped down and powerful Storegate Pro Backup provides a workspace where you can see everything. In this space, all windows and panels are in one large application window. The workspace provides easy access to various tools and features that you can use to browse, view, edit and manage your backups. Full, incremental and differential backup For example, Storegate Pro Backup can back up only those files that have changed since the last backup. Compress and encrypt Storegate Pro Backup uses Zip or 7-Zip to compress data. The program divides the backup into 500 MB archives that you can choose to encrypt as well. Backup of open files The program uses the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) functionality, which eliminates the need to shut down the applications where the backup is to be performed. Support for cloud-to-cloud backup Back up from external cloud services, such as Amazon S3, Box, Google Drive, Microsoft Azure, OneDrive, OpenStack Object Storage and Rackspace. Plugins are used to back up e.g. user settings and databases Sometimes it is difficult to identify exactly which files or registry settings you want to back up. Email clients and other common applications often store their files in hidden folders. Storegate Pro Backup simplifies the choice by using predefined extensions (plugins). Database backup Storegate Pro Backup has plugins for the most common database formats. You can perform backups and restores without stopping the database server. Advanced archive management Storegate Pro Backup creates a library that contains the history of backups and files contained in each backup run. This feature provides a clear overview of the backup history, and allows you to keep track of file versions. You can restore full, incremental or differential archives at any time with a single click. Run with Windows service Storegate Pro backup installs a Windows service that ensures that the backup schedule is kept, without you being logged in/connected to the server, and takes the backup itself. Schedule the backup daily, weekly or monthly You can easily create, edit or delete a scheduled backup from the built-in calendar.

Plugins for Pro Backup

MS SQL Server database Backup The SQL Server plugin allows you to back up and restore databases from local Microsoft SQL server. - Server: name of the SQL Server instance to connect to - Authentication: two authentication modes are available: Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication. Windows Authentication allows a user to connect via a Windows user account. With SQL Server Authentication, SQL Server performs authentication itself. - User: username of the SQL Server account (used only if you have chosen to connect with SQL Server Authentication). - Password: SQL Server password (used only if you have chosen to connect with SQL Server Authentication). Click on the Update button to retrieve the list of databases. You have to fill in the server parameters before this, because the program has to connect to the database server to get the database list. The database list shows the databases from the current server. Select the databases you want to include in the backup. If Include all databases is checked, all existing databases will be included in the backup and all new databases will be included automatically. The backup will create a complete copy of the entire database. MySQL database backup With MySQL Server plugin you can backup and restore databases from local or remote MySQL database servers. All MySQL and MariaDB versions are supported. - Host: Name or IP address of the MySQL server - Port: MySQL server port number (Port 3306 filled in by default) - User: Username for MySQL - Password: MySQL password Click on the Update button to retrieve the list of databases. You have to fill in the server parameters before this, because the program has to connect to the database server to get the database list. The database list shows the databases from the current server. Select the databases you want to include in the backup. If Include all databases is checked, all existing databases will be included in the backup and all new databases will be included automatically. If Include all tables is checked, all existing tables will be included in the backup and all new tables will be included automatically. The backup will create SQL dumps of the MySQL tables.

Profile management in Pro Backup

Profile name The name given to the profile will also be the name of the folders on the storage surface. Destination At this step, you can specify a secondary destination, such as a NAS. This allows you to speed up recovery in case of a disk crash. This setting is optional. Sources Each profile can contain several types of backup options. For example, it is possible to backup a local folder and MySQL server at the same backup run. See the heading Plugins for more information about the SQL plugin. You can also choose to put different types of backups in different profiles, e.g. for disk image or registry, or if you want to run a more split backup schedule. Backup types and versions The next step in the wizard is to set the backup type and number of versions you want to save. Here you can combine a choice that suits your purpose. Example A company has 5 GB of documents and drawings that they want to back up. How much new data is added (or changed) each day varies, but averages 500 MB. The company will want to do a full backup on Sunday and only backup new and changed files during the weekdays. If you schedule a run every day with this setting, the backup strategy will be as follows: When a successful full backup is made two weeks after the creation of the backup, the first full will be deleted and the associated incremental: This example requires at least 16 GB (5 GB full + 5 GB full + 6 GB incremental) of storage space. In addition, an additional 5 GB of temporary storage space is required for the third full backup to be uploaded (before the oldest is deleted on successful upload). Storage and security If necessary, the backup archives can also be encrypted with a key.
